Poker is one of the most well known card games around the world. These days, there are various TV shows about the poker, some movies have been made about it and even some computer games are about poker. Poker can also be found on social networking sites where you can play with complete strangers who live across the world. Having poker so accessible to everybody makes it feel a bit wrong if you don’t know a thing or two about the game. So read on to find out some of the basic rules of poker.

Texas Hold Em or the H in Horse poker is probably the most popular game available. A Player starts with 2 cards and the dealer puts down 5 more. The player with the best 5 card combination wins. Omaha poker is where two people split the winnings, the hard with the highest and lowest cards. Razz is the R in horse and players receive 7 cards and the lowest or weakest hand wins the pot. Seven-card stud is a game where players have 3 cards to begin and will end up with 7 cards.

An example of poker is Hold em. This kind of poker will be played in a clockwise manner having the player on the left of the dealer play first. Playing poker involves you having 2 cards in your hands at all times. The dealer will lay down 5 more cards on the table and you will need to come up with any 5 card combination. The highest card in the deck is the Ace but it can also play the lowest card when creating a straight. The best 5 card combination wins the pot. You can also win the pot if you’re great at bluffing. Having a bad hand and still staying in the game is risky but it works. You have to come up with your own strategy as the game progresses and as you get to know your competitors more. Your strategy should change at every game so that you will not become predictable to play with.

Betting involves calling, folding or raining. To call means to stay in the round and pay the amount of the big blind. To raise means you increase the amount of the wager on the table. If you do not feel certain about the cards in your hands and you feel that you cannot handle bluffing then it may be best to fold you can also learn by playing poker for fun.
